Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Psalm 127:3-5

Sauerkraut!

What Mama did with all those enormous split heads of cabbage... A few of us are excited to make Reuben sandwhiches with our own home-made sauerkraut. Others are not as confident; but I think we will all want to try some since it is our cabbage! Garrison did tell us a story about men on ships who used to refuse to eat sauerkraut and subsequently died of scurvy...

Sweet Fellowship

The Lonnemans, a Minnesota family we met at the recent conference, came to our home for dinner Sunday night. It was a wonderful time of joyful fellowship. We shared a time of devotions, music and a walk around the farm, as well as good conversation.
Daddy uses the Charlie, Garrison, and Ben as part of a word picture during our devotion time.

The men enjoyed looking over the new Case.

Of course Una was a favorite among the ladies. :)

And everyone loved the pigs.

Thank you for the spending the wonderful evening with us Lonnemans!

Semper Reformanda!

This is a new theme in our family.
It means "Always Reforming"
It is an abbreviated version of this motto:
"Ecclesia reformata semper reformanda secundum verbum Dei"
~
"The church reformed and always being reformed according to the word of God"

This was the battle cry of the Reformation.

It needs to live on in every generation.

We are humbled and honored to be reformers and have part in this great heritage.

Soli Deo Gloria!

The Lenz Family Kitchen

In our kitchen, there is always something new from the garden to cook up. The variation is more unique and colorful than even the seeds we planted in the spring. God's bounty poured out is wonderful!

One of Mama's favorite things to do is "caramelize" Daddy's Candy onions. I grew Nasturtiums and Black Pansies as edible flowers this year!

And we have cabbages bigger than your head. Doesn't crunchy, creamy coleslaw sound delicious?

Why did the Six Arrows go on a trip?

Our primary purpose in traveling was to attend a Christian Families at the Crossroads Conference

In Daddy's words, our family will never be the same. We did not want to come away unchanged from such an encouraging and challenging event.

We are adopting a new motto that signifies what we learned there.

Semper Reformanda

It means "Always Reforming"

The Six Arrows on the road again!

In the first hotel, Ben learned how dangerous a duffle bag can be when he got stuck in his bag looking for something.

Apparently, Garrison had hardly extricated him from this difficulty when the bed clothes sucked him in. The fact that we were all trying to recover from a long day in the car and not looking quite ourselves might have had something to do with this new and rather startling phenomena.

We were up bright and early in the morning to visit the Answers in Genesis Creation Museum . The museum was an impressive and encouraging experience for the whole family.

Inside a full scale model of Noah's Ark...

This was an intruiging exhibit on the origin of the "races."

The Six Arrows smile in the face of a T-Rex.

A Day at the Lake

Five of the Six Arrows and Mama spent an afternoon at the cabin on the lake with our good friend Ginny.

The girls enjoyed much of their time on the comfy porch in pleasant conversation or peering through a delightful historical fashion book.
The screened porch is the perfect place to enjoy the lake and the breeze without the accompaniment of bugs.

The boys enjoyed the lake all day, swimming, boating and fishing.

Ben, the official boat man, acted as navigator.

Garrison was firm in his decision to stay on shore, a decision which he believed was "wisest." :)

Aubrey and Sam went along for the ride and fishing.

It was a beautiful day, even though there was a stiff breeze.

I think we all agree that this place is one of the most beautiful spots in the world and we are thankful we were blessed to spend a few restful hours there.

What a little man thinks of the farm...?

Well...here are some of his expressions and thoughts...
Tractors?

Yep those are good. "Big tahter! Tahter ride!" to be exact.

And he knows exactly what to do with that!

Peas?
"Oooo More!"
Rasberries? MMMM! Doesn't he look like a serious connoisseur?

Sheep? Well, they loved him and let him get right up close to them. I think a human closer to their size was intriguing for them.

And like a true farmer at the end, he announced decidedly "Open door! Cake!" Having heard the plan to have desert there was no doubt in his mind that to go into the house and have cake was the next step. I believe we wore him out, but Ryan thoroughly enjoyed his visit to the farm.

Independence Day!!!

Getting ready to shoot the potato cannon! See the potatoes on the end of the flat bed. :)
A good shot of potatoes will make it all the way to the trees at the other end of the field... with hairspray and a small lantern igniter!

The "boys of '76" in a cloud of smoke... :)

Our neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Berg, prefer the smaller crowds at our humble show. Ha ha :)
They graciously applauded every firework and laughed with us to no end. :)

A beautiful moon! The light around the moon almost looked red, white, and blue!
With gratefulness to our Creator for his graciousness in the lives of our forefathers who desired to build a nation based on His Law, we celebrated Independence Day. God preserve us and bless us who hold fast to His name and let us not forget the sacrifices of the reformers!
